(If ponies having sex is not a thing you like to read about, then don't read past the line "Even when it's not balled up in a Mary Sue archtype, the very presence of this dissonance repulses you from a story, and that's what killed Hot Seed for me." Everything before it is about Sues.)
If you're too scared to touch words written by a clop-writer, the tl;dr is: a Mary Sue is not a particular collection of traits or even purple prose; it's the author engaging in gaslighting regarding a character for no good reason.
Seriously, friends, don't fret about whether your characters fit some criterium or other. Just write interactions 'n stuff the way they are.

While copying Hazel's story's draft onto the computer (I wrote it in notebooks!), I'm also doing some basic editing, like finding names for things. Like, I don't wanna use take names outright. The Dark Axis ship isn't merely the Musai, it's the Magna-Musai and the SDG's headquarters is Blanc Base, not White Base, etc
So the protagonists' ship in Advance of Z is the Aswan, which is the name of a dam in Egypt. So, okay, let's look at a list of African dams en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_…
Apparently Hazelmere Dam en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazelmer… ("Hazel Lake") is a thing. I won't use it, because that's TOO silly even for me, but it amuses me!

Remember this dude?!
Remember how I was like "he is part of a fanfic that I'm writing" and then I never updated that story?
I totally finished the rough draft yesterday! 8D
It's nowhere near presentable though, I mean most of it looks like this:
It's Kämpfer and Decimator-tachi.
Who aren't happy that Hazel-tachi aren't here! What are they, chicken.
And the core 'Force are like "what, are we not good enough"
And Kämpfer-tachi are like "NOPE"
And the Force are like ">:I"
And the K-tachi are like "Not that they're that good anyway OHHHHH"
And the Force are like ">>:I"
While there is a certain amount of comedy in this style, that's not exactly what I'm aiming for with this story
